Part-Time Maintenance Worker
(20 hours per Week)

First Nation Healing Centre is presently seeking a Part Time Maintenance Worker.  The maintenance worker will coordinate the operation of the building and vehicle maintenance. The maintenance worker ensures the building, grounds, and vehicles are all up to safety standards for residents and staff.  The primary function of the maintenance worker is to plan, organize, manage and conduct maintenance of the building, utilities and physical facilities under maintenance and surveillance of the Centre.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure health, safety and fire standards are met,
  • To maintain good operating order for the buildings, equipment and grounds,
  • Prepare and maintain files of all materials related to building and maintenance equipment,
  • Assure the maintenance of daily log and preparation of reports to measure the effectiveness of existing facilities and methods,
  • Supervise and carry out, if necessary, the purchasing and pick up of supplies for the shelter,
  • Maintain vehicles in good operating order and clean vehicles thoroughly once a week,
  • Plan, advise, estimate, and participate in major repairs and construction of additions, alternatives and renovations to building facilities and equipment.
  • Help assist staff with fulfilling event set up
  • Keeping our yard clean, garage tools and equipment organized
  • Ensuring building is equipped with essentials that are needed when dealing with power outages and extreme weather conditions
  • Ensure secure doors, locks, gated premises is consistent and safe

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in the provision of direct services,
  • Ability to handle maintenance equipment and undertake all aspects of the construction process (ex. Plumbing, electrical etc.)
  • Clear understanding of Confidentiality and ability to maintain and perform under this mandate,
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal customs and traditions is essential,
  • Valid Class 4 and 5 Drivers License and access to a vehicle is essential.
  • Must have WHMIS/First Aid/CPR training,
  • Must be aware of safety hazards in the maintenance of safety equipment,
  • Good supervisory skills,
  • Must be physically fit to perform duties indoors and outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must adhere to the Policies and Procedures as set out by FNHC,
  • Must adhere to Criminal Record Check, Child and Adult Abuse Record Checks,
  • Preference first to Fisher River Band Members.
