Fisher River Board of Education invites applications for a Cultural Program Coordinator

The cultural Program Coordinator is to provide increased access to culture and land-based healing program and service delivery to children, youth and families; assist families to learn about their culture, customs and traditions in collaboration with community, collaterals and elders.

  • Status: Full-time – 40 hours weekly
  • Salary: TBD upon hire based on experience and qualifications
  • Term of Employment: Contract for one year; possibility of extension based on funding
  • Start Date: As soon as possible


  • Education Diploma in Indigenous studies/social services or minimum of 3 years of related work experience within an Indigenous organization or community
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history
  • Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous children, youth and families in a healing and wellness capacity
  • Speaker of the Cree language will be considered an asset
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills; excellent interviewing and counselling skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Essential computer competencies
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Strong understanding of policy, program and evaluation processes
  • Strong writing and reporting skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other programming staff and departments
  • Knowledge of traditional Indigenous Medicines
  • Strong Knowledge of community resources
  • Skills and knowledge in program development; Experience in coordinating cultural events
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License
  • Current Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector and Child Abuse Registry Check

The successful candidate’s employment is contingent upon meeting all pre-employment policies of the Fisher River Cree Nation.
