FINANCE CLERK
(Full-Time Position)
Fisher River Cree Nation (FRCN) is presently seeking a Finance Clerk for a Full-Time Position to work as part of the FRCN finance team with report to the Director of Operations and the Director of Finance. The Finance Clerk will provide a wide range of financial administrative functions by performing the following responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist in compiling and prepare financial accounting statements along with all other related duties as required;
- Maintain the financial records, statements and budgets and data entry for the finance program within the computerized accounting operation (ACCPAC);
- Become familiar with and abide by FRCN policies, procedures and by-laws including FRCN’s Financial Administrative Law (FAL);
- Knowledgeable of annual work plans and budgets for areas of responsibility;
- Prepare Purchase orders, invoices, bank deposits, statements, bank reconciliations, process accounts receivable, process accounts payable, prepare and submit records of employment and other mandatory government remittances, as required;
- Prepare, Review and analyze reports, statements and invoices, prior to processing accounts payable & receivables, verify departmental account codes;
- Respond to all enquires and forward to appropriate personnel for follow up;
- Process Payroll as required, including verifying hourly wages or annual salaries with the approved budget for each employee;
- Assist in maintaining a safe and secure record & filing system;
- Process and record monthly bank reconciliations on program accounts as assigned;
- Work in cooperation with auditors for the annual financial audit – includes compiling documents, reconciliations & schedules, answering queries, photocopying, scanning;
- Prepares statistical, financial and accounting reports and reports to funders;
- Prepare and mail letters and make phone calls for collections as required;
- Preparing bank deposits and bringing them to the bank;
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 or relevant work experience in Finance;
- A certificate from a recognized accounting program and or related courses in accounting and bookkeeping, is preferable;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, time management and interpersonal skills;
- Good Writing skills including ability to complete document, reports and related correspondence;
- Good attention to detail;
- Willingness to be cross-train and work in all finance divisions or departments as assigned;
- Works well with others, good public relation skills with ability to handle challenges;
- Very good knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook (email) required;
- Working knowledge of ACCPAC Accounting System;
- Work with minimum supervision, reliable, takes initiative and efficient;
- Participate in continuing education and personal/professional development in finance
- Driver’s license and vehicle is preferable.
