Overview of program

This 6-month program expected to begin in November 2023 is an excellent opportunity for potential shelter workers to connect with a local family violence (FV) or homeless shelter. Completion of the full program and work placement may lead to employment at a shelter.

The program will focus on trauma-informed care, consisting of:

(2) A 90-hour fundamentals training in skills needed to work in a shelter
(3) A 90-hour specialization course in homeless or family violence shelters (participant’s choice)
(4) A 20-hour work placement at a shelter (for those that don’t already work at a shelter)
(5) A 20-hour capstone project—research & propose solutions to a topic concerning the shelter

What you’ll need
