URBAN INTAKE WORKER

Job Summary:
The Jordan’s Principle Intake Worker functions as a member of an interdisciplinary Jordan’s Principle team, and will enhance the delivery of services. Intake worker will be the first point of contact, conduct intakes, assessments, provide information, orientate service requester about services in the Urban Office. The intake worker will work with Case Manager to navigate services to on-going services such as child development worker, wellness worker, rehab assistance worker, respite worker, internal and external services or determine closure.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, Post Secondary Diploma in related field preferred and/or minimum two years’ experience in Social Services;
- First Aide/CPR or willing to upgrade or take training;
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills;
- Must be sensitive and responsive in all interactions with vulnerable clients;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs;
- Ability to work independently, but still in a team setting;
- Knowledge of Fisher River Cree Nation traditions and lifestyles;
Duties:
- Complete intake through telephone or in-person to confirm eligibility and determine appropriate services based on needs of the child with “back to basics” approach;
- Provides support to children and their families by direct support, intake and assessments, referrals, networking, and work in collaboration with service providers;
- Create files, being responsible for data entry of new intakes and maintaining current case files with new information, general administrative duties;
- Create and maintaining a safe, welcoming, non-judgemental, anti-oppressive atmosphere for families and children;
- Receiving and processing external intake referrals; making referrals as appropriate;
- Assist with collection, maintenance, and distribution of Jordan’s Principle statistical information;
- Performs other activities and duties as directed within the position’s mandate and expertise under the direction of the Director and Jordan’s Principle Case Manager;
- Other duties as assigned.
