Summary:

The Intake Brief Services Worker is responsible for responding to referrals, requests for services and inquiries made to ICFS. The Intake Brief Services Worker is responsible for screening and assessing applicants, gathering information from the referral source on the presenting problems, determining the appropriateness of the referral to ICFS programs, determining the urgency level, and responding to crisis situations and “walk-ins”.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides intake, brief support services and crisis intervention to clients
  • Maintains the intake and waiting list system
  • Provides intake assessments and makes relevant recommendations for services
  • Assists clients in identifying and advocating for services and, civic and legal rights
  • Promotes partnerships with clients, family members and other service providers as appropriate
  • Provides information and consultation to individuals, referral sources, families and colleagues with respect to various internal and external programs and services
  • Contributes to the development of comprehensive client-centered assessments and case plans; and provides necessary service coordination to clients in the intake process
  • Identifies, applies and monitors effective intervention strategies that contribute to the optimal function of clients including maximizing self-sufficiency, societal integration, focus on wellness and improved health status and engagement in meaningful activity

Qualifications:

  • Completed post-secondary education in the social/health science disciplines
  • Minimum of three years related experience in the delivery of community supports to clients (preference will be given to those with mental health experience)
  • Well-developed knowledge, experience and clinical skills in areas of screening, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation
  • In-depth knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation, psychotropic medications, symptom management
  • Knowledge of Child and Family Services Act, Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively utilize local community resources
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within and across the service system
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • A valid Manitoba Driver’s License, a reliable vehicle with insurance coverage
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, databases)
  • Satisfactory police records search and clear Child Abuse Check

Salary Range:

  • Dependent on Education and Experience
