RED TURTLE LODGE – ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR
(Full Time Position – 80 hrs biweekly)

The Red Turtle Lodge is presently seeking an Administrative Coordinator to work under the direction of the Keepers of the Lodge.  The Administrative Coordinator is responsible to work with and assist the Traditional Lead Elder.  The successful incumbent will provide a high level of expertise in the areas of Administrative duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Traditional Lead Elder to establish an annual and monthly calendar and coordinate bookings for events, gatherings and learning circles at the Red Turtle Lodge.
  • Respond to calls, correspondence and emails to coordinate meetings and events of the Red Turtle Lodge.
  • Research and help to recruit traditional Cree Teachers/Knowledge Keepers and/or Elders to provide teachings, facilitative leadership in workshops and learning circles.
  • Take the place of the Traditional Lead Elders at learning circles, gatherings and ceremonies in his absence and/or when he is busy with another lodge meeting or event.
  • Assist in developing proposals for operational funding for the lodge that reflects the lodge’s work plan and priorities.
  • Assist the Traditional Lead Elder in coordinating work projects, contractors and specialists.
  • Establish a staff time system, including submitting staff time-sheets to Fisher River Cree Nation Finance for payroll and employee benefits purposes.
  • Organize correspondence, reports and documents into a current maintained filing system.
  • Provide Red Turtle Lodge activity and financial reports to funding agencies/organizations/stakeholders and Fisher River Cree Nation.
  • Establish programs/operational quarterly and annual review process with the Keepers of the Lodge to allow for revisions and/or changes to be made to the Red Turtle Lodge’s budget and five-year work plan.
  • Participate and help with traditional ceremonies conducted by the Traditional Lead Elder and Traditional Cree Helpers.
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications/Employment Requirements

  • Certification in Financial Management training and minimum of two (2) years management work experience in financial management and coordinating projects and work.
  • Knowledge and experienced in the Cree traditional way of life.
  • Being mindful of the historical and inter-generational trauma Indigenous peoples have experienced.
  • Ability to coordinate work projects, contractors and specialists.
  • Advanced computer knowledge, including ability to develop proposals for funding and provide activity/financial reports to funding agencies/organizations/stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain staff time-sheets for payroll and employee benefits purposes.
  • Respect Christianity and understand the strong influence its religious teachings and practices on Indigenous spirituality and way of life.
  • Being mindful and respectful towards to all who participate in Red Turtle Lodge’ Events, Circles and Ceremonies. For example, Traditional, Christian, LGBTQ2S genders, other Tribal affiliates and/or others who may follow different spiritual ways.
  • Lives and practices an alcohol, drug and addiction free way of life.
  • Must provide Criminal Record Check, Adult and Child/vulnerable Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must abide with the FRCN Illegal Drug by-law.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
