Employment and Training Coordinator
Full Time Position
The Human Resource Program is seeking a dynamic and engaging Employment & Training Coordinator with a friendly and courteous demeanor to join our organization. The successful incumbent will provide a high level of expertise in the areas of Counseling Clients, Career Planning, Administrative responsibilities and is responsible for training to employment needs of Fisher River Cree Nation.
Duties will include:
- Meet with clients to prepare a needs assessment and career planning
- Job search assistance, counselling, including resume writing, interview preparation techniques and cover letter/resume preparation
- Access to labour market and academic program information
- Referral and sponsorship to education, skills training and employment programs to enhance employability
- Assisting clients with applications for Employment Insurance and Social Insurance Numbers
- Data input: Accountability Resource Management System (ARMS) ensuring updated files are in system for all clients utilizing the Training & Employment Services
- Assisting clients with the completion of applications for criminal records check, birth certificates, marriage, and death certificates (minimal levels of service)
- Familiar with Employment Social Development Canada (ESDC)/ASETS program
- Refer clients to local employers seeking workers with matched qualifications, experience and transferable skills for possible local and nation-wide employment
- Familiar with all Federal/Provincial Government Income Security Programs
- Maintain a local community job bank
- Familiar with post-secondary educational institutions, funding and training initiatives
- Monthly reporting of daily activities
- Monthly reporting to funder
- Supply ASETS/FPDI with statistical information of local community trainees and results when required
- Assist FPDI with their local community labour market information when required
- Attend local meetings on behalf of Fisher River Cree Nation and ASETS that pertain to Training & Employment
- Manage and oversee youth employment program
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a related field and/or equivalent experience
- Experience working in the employment and training sector an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft word, excel, power point, email, internet research
- Work with minimum supervision, and regular hours
- Ability to speak and understand an Aboriginal language will be considered an asset
- Must be willing and able to travel as required (must have own vehicle)
- Must be willing to work weekends, if needed.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, class 5
- Must provide with Resume: Criminal Record Check, Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks (at your own expense)
