We are thrilled to invite you to the Grand Opening of a second-stage women’s shelter called Kapahpak.

This is an exciting new chapter in the shelter space, for the community of Fisher River Cree Nation and the First Nation Healing Centre, as this Centre will be one of the first in Canada, on-reserve transitional housing program for women and children fleeing violence.

“Ka pah pak” means “Butterfly” in Cree. The name of this program symbolizes the journey in which women have the ability to leave a life with violence and abuse and transition it into a beautiful life for herself and her children.
