Water and Wastewater Facilities Manager – Full Time Position

Summary

Fisher River Cree Nation is presently seeking (1) Full Time position, as a Water and Wastewater Facilities Manager to work under the direction and supervision of the Director of Operations/Chief & Council.  The Water and Wastewater Facilities Manager will oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities at Fisher River Cree Nation.

Duties

  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the Water and Wastewater Facilities;
  • Operate and maintain equipment related to Water Treatment and Sewage System;
  • Must Clean and Maintain all Water and Wastewater Facilities;
  • Maintain the equipment (daily routine checks on the water and wastewater facilities) and buildings as required;
  • Keep records and daily logs and reports of the water and wastewater levels;
  • Report to “as required” to the Director of Operations,  Chief and Council or their representative, the Community Health Nurse, the EHO and the Community Health Representative on problems that occurring within the treatment systems;
  • Operate and maintain equipment and testing water in accordance with instructions and established methods and procedures;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the Water and Wastewater Facilities operating systems;
  • Must adhere to FRCN Policies & Procedures, including the Illegal Drug By-law, etc;
  • Perform other duties assigned as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Grade twelve education or a minimum of two years experience working in a Water or Wastewater Facilities;
  • Must be physically fit and good health (the work requires continual standing and walking, bending, stretching, and heavy lifting of heavy-weight bags of chemicals into feeders and batch mixers etc).,
  • Must be willing to train both on the job and in a classroom setting in Winnipeg (maximum of two weeks time frame away from home at a time).
  • Must be willing to be certified as a Water treatment plant operator, a Wastewater plant operator, Water distribution system operator and a Wastewater collection system operator.
  • Knowledge of the operation and running maintenance of pumps, chlorinators and feeders and other mechanical equipment.
  • Problem solving, decision making, job task planning and organizing,
  • Must have good organizational and communication skills,
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends in event of an emergency,
  • Must have class 5 Drivers Licence, and provide a copy of Drivers Abstract.
  • Must provide Criminal Record, Child & Adult Abuse Registry Checks.
