Under the general direction of Director of Health and to work alongside the Environmental Health Worker (EHW) in Water Testing in the community of Fisher River Cree Nation; assist with reports as per directives given; as set out by the Environmental Public Health Services Department of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Related education and/or work experience & involvement in the environmental health area;
- Knowledge of Fisher River Cree Nation and its local practices in Health and Environment;
- Knowledge of the community of Fisher River Cree Nation and its surroundings;
- A valid Manitoba Driver’s Licence, use of vehicle, is a must;
- Access to a working cell phone, must have access to incoming/outgoing phone calls;
- Basic computer skills, data entry, excel and word; proficient with emails, scanning and photocopying;
- Ability and professionalism to work with internal and external resources;
- Able to take direction and follows through to completion of tasks;
- Good interpersonal skills: respectful and good attitude;
- Must be available to work flexible hours and to travel when required;
- Training will be provided;
- Must adhere to FRCN Policies & Procedures, including the Illegal Drug By-law, Adult Abuse & Child Abuse Registry.
Duties:
Water Quality Monitoring
- Test community water system for pH & chlorine, bacteria & chemicals for analysis as per requirements;
- Assist in testing and inspection of private water supplies (wells) as required;
- Analyse bacteriological & chemical on new wells;
- Assist in the review of engineering proposals for development of community system;
- Document and report all findings, other duties as assigned for the program.
