The Verna J. Kirkness Institute of Higher Learning was officially opened on May 14, 2002.
In the past this building has been used for various community workshops, as well as Alternative Education, and programs through Brandon University, University of Winnipeg, and Assiniboine Community College. Currently the building is the permanent home to three programs – University College of the North’s Bachelor of Education, MFNERC’s Educational Assistant program and Adult Education.
The Verna J. Kirkness building at times becomes home to other courses delivered by or in partnership with Charles Sinclair School, Fisher River High School, Fisher River Board of Education, Fisher River Employment & Training, Fisher River Pre-Employment Skills Program and the Fisher River Health Centre.
The Verna J. Kirkness building is open Monday to Friday 8:30 – 4:30. Bookings for use of the facility can be made with Kelly.
