Notice of Upcoming Ratification Vote (Land Code)

TAKE NOTICE that a Ratification Vote shall be held in accordance with the Fisher River Cree Nation Community Ratification Process in order to determine if Eligible Voters approve the Fisher River Cree Nation Land Code and the Individual Agreement..
The following question will be asked of the Eligible Voters of Fisher River Cree Nation by ballot:
“Do you approve:
 The Fisher River Cree Nation Land Code, dated March 23, 2018 and The Individual Agreement with Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada?
Advance Polls for the Ratification Vote will take place on Thursday the 19th day of July, 2018 and Friday the 20th day of July, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at:
The Marlborough Hotel, “Churchill’s Room”, at 331 Smith Street in the City of Winnipeg, Province of Manitoba.
And Advance Polls for the Ratification Vote will take place on Monday the 23rd day of July, 2018, Tuesday the 24th day of July, 2018 and Wednesday the 25th day of July, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at:
The tent on the Fisher River Treaty Grounds (adjacent to the Open Air Hall) in the community of Fisher
River Cree Nation in the Province of Manitoba.
The Official Voting Day for the Ratification Vote will take place on Thursday the 26th day of July, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at:
The tent on the Fisher River Treaty Grounds (adjacent to the Open Air Hall) in the community of Fisher
River Cree Nation in the Province of Manitoba.
The Alternative Voting Methods will be available from 8:00 a.m. on Monday the 2nd day of July, 2018 until 9:00 a.m. on Thursday the 26th day of July, 2018. Please note that the Alternative Voting Methods will not be available on the days of the Advance Polls from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. (Thursday the 19th day of July, 2018, Friday the 20th day of July, 2018, Monday the 23rd day of July, 2018, Tuesday the 24th day of July, 2018 and Wednesday the 25th day of July, 2018). https://onefeather.ca/nations/fisherriver or call Lawrence Lewis at 1-250-889-1582.
Electronic and paper copies of the Background Documents, the Ratification Documents and the Ratification Process may be obtained from George Crate, Land Code Coordinator, at the Fisher River Cree Nation Administration Offices, the community of Fisher River Cree Nation, Province of Manitoba, telephone (204) 645-2171 or toll-free 1-866-645-2171.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that all Members of Fisher River Cree Nation who are 18 years of age or older as of the date of the Official Voting Day of the Ratification Vote are eligible to vote, PROVIDED THAT SUCH MEMBERS MUST COMPLETE A VOTER REGISTRATION DOCUMENT OR COMPLETE THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS. Voter registration documents are available from the community website or the Ratification Officer at the address and telephone number appearing below.
ELIGIBLE VOTERS CAN REGISTER AT THE POLLS UP TO THE CLOSE OF THE POLLS ON THE OFFICIAL VOTING DAY.

NOTE: All Eligible Voters shall receive a registration document as well as instruction on how to
obtain a mail-in ballot package and instructions on how to vote electronically. If an Eligible Voter
would like to vote by mail-in ballot, please contact the Ratification Officer for a mail-in package.
Eligible Voters who wish to vote in person, electronically or by Regular Ballot may attend the polls
on Voting Days.
