Chief Deborah Smith & Councillors, along with representatives of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation (BON) met with Chief Crate & Council on Wednesday October 9.
Our visitors met with the Council to discuss many matters of interests such as the Financial Management Law, First Nations Finance Authority and Financial Management Board to name a few; as well as sharing each others success stories on development and policies. BON is currently coming onto year 5 since ratifying their Land Code.
Our visitors than proceeded to tour the community.
Brokenhead Ojibway Nation is an Anishinaabe (Saulteaux/Ojibwa) First Nation. As of May 2010, the First Nation had a registered population of 1,733 people, of which their own on-reserve population was 598. The main reserve of Brokenhead 4 is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of St. Clements, except for a small lakeshore on Lake Winnipeg.
This is to advise that BELLMTS contractors will be in the FRCN community installing Fiber Optic lines. The crew has already commenced work as of October 1st, 2019, and will be in the community until mid November 2019.
