RE: COVID-19- CHECK POINTS NOW ONLY ALLOWING RESIDENTS

Fisher River Cree Nation along with our partnering communities Peguis First Nation and Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation are now restricting access at Emergency Road Check Points to those members residing in the three communities as well as Dallas/Redrose, Fisher Bay and Harwill ONLY. These security measures are to reduce the risk and prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our community.

Residing membership to these communities will be allowed to enter/exit. Manitoba Health asks that anyone who has travelled out of Province or has flu-like symptoms declare this and to go into self-isolation for 14 days. This is very important to notify Fisher River Health Services if you are in self-isolation in order for us to monitor. We do have a lot of elders’ and vulnerable people in our communities we are trying to protect.

Non-residents will not be allowed to enter unless they deemed essential business for Nations and communities. Access to Lake St.George, Lake St.Andrews and surrounding areas has also been restricted. We also advise all suppliers and contractors to remain out of community if the work is deemed non-essential.

Check Points ask for Identification for proof of residency along with logging the names of each individual entering the community, license plate numbers of the vehicles, the company they represent and a contact number of those entering the community. We will also be screening to determine their travel history internationally and provincially.

The locations of the Check Points:

  • Fisher River Cree Nation Reserve Entrance **NEW** – Extra Precaution
  • Fish Road
  • Steven Krywenko Stop Sign
  • Poplar Lake Road at Johnny Beck’s
  • West Harwill Road at Southwest Corner of Reserve Corner of Peguis First Nation
  • John Watt Road
  • Ashern Dike Road
  • Old Ashern Road – PR 325W
  • Mikinak’s West Road
  • Hodgson side Road
  • Cameron’s Road

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
