RE: COVID-19 Travel Restrictions & Curfew
Due to changes in the positions from our neighboring communities of Peguis First Nation and Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation from Full Lockdowns; along with limitations with our grocery supplier, we have switched the position from a Full Lockdown to Travel Restrictions.
Therefore, a TRAVEL BAN for has been implemented for these locations beginning Sunday April 5, 2020 at 8:00am (subject to change):

  • City of Winnipeg
  • City of Selkirk
  • Town of Gimli
  • City of Dauphin

As all locations have either lab confirmed or presumptive cases of COVID-19 and members are at risk of contracting and bringing the COVID-19 virus into Fisher River Cree Nation and our neighboring communities.
Members are asked to travel no further than to these locations for Essentials ONLY (groceries and medical purposes) and will be limited to a maximum 3 hours.

  • Fisher Branch
  • Arborg

Upon returning, Checkpoint Staff will be advised to request to see ID’s and Shopping Receipts to prove that you only travelled within the unrestricted zones, along with the line of questioning that has already been currently going on.
If you are not back within the 3 hour timeframe, Health Officials will be notified and you will be subjected to the 14 day Self-Isolation where you must stay at your place of residence during that time.
Fisher River Health Services shall receive documentation of any persons leaving Fisher River Cree Nation to Winnipeg, Selkirk, Gimli and Dauphin, Manitoba or other Communities that are deemed to be restricted area’s and shall create a list of persons/homes that are in self-isolation with start date and completion date.
Fisher River Health Services will be responsible for clearing all persons who are on the mandatory 14-day self-isolation.
CURFEW
Fisher River Cree Nation will be continuing with the 10:00pm – 6:00am Curfew. Checkpoints will be CLOSED and there will be NO ACCESS IN OR OUT of Fisher River Cree Nation between these hours. Peguis First Nation have also issued such Curfew where all Checkpoints and Access IN AND OUT will be CLOSED.
Essential Service providers such as Bell MTS, Manitoba Hydro, Emergency personal will not be affected.
We thank our membership for their cooperation and patience as measures to ensure our members safety change daily and we will continue to update members as the pandemic continues.
