RE: POTENTIAL VEHICLE SEARCHES AT CHECK POINTS & PROVINCE OF MANITOBA NON-COMPLIANCE FINES
Leadership from Peguis First Nation, Fisher River Cree Nation, Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation and Harwill have collectively agreed to begin Vehicle Searches at both Check Points, Highway 224 and Mi-Ki-Nak Road entrances. Searches will be at the discrestion of the Checkpoint staff.
As well, Peguis First Nation (By-Law – RESPONSE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC), Fisher River Cree Nation (Emergency Measures By-Law) and Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation (BCR) with the support for the RCMP have agreed to adopt the Province of Manitoba’s Non-Compliance Fines for individuals and businesses breaking orders under The Public Health Act to help reduce the spread of the virus including:
• restrictions on public gatherings to 10 or fewer people,
• require the closure of non-essential businesses, and
• enforcement of social distancing measures by businesses and services that remain open including ensuring a two-metre distance is kept between people in the facility or premises.
• As well to those individuals who do not abide by the Self Isolation/Monitoring guidelines set by local Public Health Services.
The fines are $486 for individuals and $2,542 for businesses . The RCMP will have the responsibility of handling tickets and fines.
