RE: Update on COVID-19 #16
Public health officials advise one new case of COVID-19 have been identified as of 9:30am today. The total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba is 284.
The data shows:

  • 5 individuals are currently hospitalized, there are no individuals in Intensive Care (ICU)
  • 30 active cases and 247 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19
  • the number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at 7.

Cadham Provincial Laboratory performed 543 tests yesterday May 7th. A total of 29,343 tests have been performed since early February.
Fisher River Cree Nation falls within the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA). Although Interlake-Eastern is showing 20 cases, there are no current active COVID-19 cases within the IERHA region.
The one new additional case has tested positive from the workplace cluster in the Prairie Mountain Health Regional, brining the total to 8 cases. Dr. Brent Roussin says there is no cause for concern, and this is not unexpected as public health officials continue to investigate and trace contacts. Affected staff and their close contacts are self-isolating and public health officials are continuing with detailed contact tracing.
With Mother’s Day coming up, please keep in mind we are not out of the clear therefore it is highly recommended to continue to stay your distance. No large gatherings and limit to the recommendations of no more than 10 people and to social distant yourself. If at all possible, outdoor visits, and the more we are creative to maintain set out restrictions the better it is for everyone.
We all need to take those that are more susceptible or at high risk to the virus especially those who are older than 65 and or have underlining health conditions.
If your ill please stay home, wash your hands, cover your cough.
On behalf of The Fisher River Health Centre, we wish all you awesome, beautiful Mothers a very “Happy Mothers Day”!
Fisher River Health will continue providing regular updates regarding the COVID-19, also know as Corona Virus, as changes and updates are provided from Manitoba Health.
Respectfully,
Lynette McDonald
Director of Health
Fisher River Health Centre
