Tansi Parents, Guardians & Students,
We would first like to acknowledge our students for their willingness and effort in doing their best to learn remotely. We also offer our sincere gratitude to the parents for the support they have shown to the teachers and we acknowledge our teachers for the tremendous amount of time that they have devoted to ensuring that our students received the best online learning possible. We have truly appreciated the support as we faced the challenge of teaching and learning in a new way.
In the 10 months since covid began, we have come to realize that education is so much more than learning the lessons from a curriculum. It is about the connections and relationships we have made as educators, students and parents. It is about supporting each other and supporting mental health which is difficult to accomplish online. It is for this reason that the directive has come from the Fisher River Board of Education that we begin to focus on re-opening for students.
Charles Sinclair Elementary School & Fisher River High School will re-open on February 16th. In August 2020, when we first planned to begin our school year, we made detailed plans on having a blended model of learning where each class is divided into a Group A and a Group B. Each group will attend class two days a week and have homework for the other two days. Fridays will be a homework catch up day for students and a preparation day for teachers. We will be revisiting and adjusting this plan to ensure the health and safety of our students and our staff and will send out more detailed information once we finalize and create the safest protocols possible.
Please expect a telephone call from Charles Sinclair School & Fisher River High School receptionist, who has begun contacting parents to see who will be returning in February. We will need this confirmation of in-school learning for planning purposes.
We are excited to see the students and make those positive connections! Again, we thank you for your continued support.
Yours in Education,
Warren Woodhouse, Principal, CSS
Winston Hrechka, Principal, FRHS
Delores Bouchey, Vice-Principal
