Firewood Cutting Permits are now available online at no cost for Fisher River Cree Nation members at https://www.manitobaelicensing.ca/licensing.page
It only takes a few minutes to complete the application online and print your permit. See the step-by-step Instructions that were developed specifically for FRCN members.
In the Interlake or Central Region, there are no designated firewood cutting areas so you can cut firewood on unoccupied Crown land.
Fisher River Cree Nation members should cut their firewood along the Fish Road where there are large areas of fallen and broken trees from the October 2019 snowstorm. These dead trees will become a fire hazard if they aren’t removed.
Since the trees are already down, dried and easily accessible, cutting them for firewood will save you a lot of work. At the same time you will be helping our community by reducing the risk of wildfire next spring and summer.
All land along both sides of the Fish Road from our community to PR325 is Crown land, and therefore nearly all the area is open for cutting firewood. There are some agricultural Crown lands leased out at the south end of Fish Road so those areas should be avoided if they are being used by ranchers or farmers.
