EAST ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The East Road Reconstruction project will begin on August 9, 2021 and is expected to continue through to the end of October 2021. Final paving of the project will be occurring in spring 2022. Earth Max Construction has been hired to complete the construction activities.

As part of the works, the trees along the ditches will be cut to improve the drainage along the road, ditches will be regarded to improve flow and culverts will be replaced. The road will have significant excavation in some areas to widen and raise the road to improve road safety and flood protection.

During the road reconstruction this fall, the road will remain open to local residents and to the FRCN landfill, however there will be construction delays at times. During some stages of the works, residents will lose access to their driveways temporally. The Contractor will be providing notice prior to the closure of driveways to allow residents to move vehicles out of their property temporarily.

Once school resumes, construction activities will be staged to allow school bus service to be maintained for children.

A temporary boat launch was constructed on the North side of the river at the old treaty grounds off provincial highway 224 for commercial fishers and the public in general.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding access to your residence during construction, please contact Councilor’s Darrell Thaddeus or Carl Cochrane at 204-645-2171.
