True North Aid Mattress Campaign (Jordan’s Principle)

todayJanuary 30, 2024 264

Background
share close

Fisher River has been given the opportunity to apply for bed sets again.

As previously done, we will be following the guidelines from True North Aid. Please see their message below:

Please keep your request moderate, with a focus on those in the community who most urgently need it. The minimum request is 10 BEDS. Due to a VERY limited supply, mattresses will be prioritized to those who can demonstrate a robust method used to identify the number of new beds requested. Additionally, beds will be prioritized for communities with references from the band chief/council, management of social programming, or another form of leadership within the community.

Communities that have been provided with mattresses in the past will be considered, however those who have not received mattresses will take priority.

Who can apply:

  • If you have not received a bed set previously from this program
  • Over the age 18
  • Not on Social Assistance
  • Living in Fisher River

How to apply:

  • Please leave your name and number for Sharon Monkman at the Jordan’s Principle office (204 645-2282) to call you back

We will apply for 40 bed sets. The following community entities and programs will be working together to determine the final list of applicants if more than 40 shall apply:

  • Fisher River Reconciliation
  • Fisher River Social Services
  • Fisher River Healing Centre
  • Fisher River Post Secondary Education
  • Fisher River Home Care
  • Fisher River Jordan’s Principle

Deadline to apply is: Wednesday January 31, 2024
