Protect your home as best as you can by doing the following:

Direct the flow away from your home by ensuring the downspouts are down
Keep an eye on the basement and crawlspace every day for signs of water
Make sure the sump pump is working properly, as the float gets stuck at times – please keep in mind that the rain and saturation of ground contributes to it running more than usual
Ensure the sump pump is not plugged up with debris at intakes and that the sump pump hose is not blocked and directing water away from your home
If applicable, clear drainage ditches and culverts
Don’t place valuable items on the basement floor as the housing department/committee is not responsible for personal belongings
