The Fisher River Cree Nation Chief and Council are overjoyed to welcome home one of our own, Dr. Nora Murdock, as the Director of Education for our community.
Dr. Murdock returns to Fisher River with a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advancing Indigenous education. Prior to coming home, she served as the Director of Systems Development for the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre, where she played a pivotal role in shaping educational policies and programs that uplift First Nations students.
With a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and a lifelong passion for empowering our youth, Dr. Murdock brings a unique blend of expertise and cultural understanding to this vital role. Her dedication to preserving and promoting our Cree language, traditions, and knowledge systems will undoubtedly enrich the educational experience of our children and youth.
As the Director of Education, Dr. Murdock will work closely with our Elders, educators, and community members to develop innovative, culturally-responsive curricula and programs that empower our students to reach their full potential. Her expertise in systems-level change will be instrumental in ensuring our education system continues to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing needs of our community.
