A dream took root in the minds of two community members, Ron Sinclair and Faye Murdock. Nine years ago, amidst whispers of tradition and echoes of the past, the idea for the Red Turtle Lodge Cultural Centre was born.

Ron and Faye poured their hearts and souls into this dream, envisioning a place where community spirit would flourish, and traditions would be cherished and shared. With unwavering dedication, they gathered a working group that included community members and elders, along with the support of the Chief & Council.

Together, they laid the foundation for the Red Turtle Lodge, a cultural hub where the rich tapestry of Indigenous practices would be woven into the fabric of daily life. It would be a space where youth, men, women, children, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals could come together, learn, and celebrate their heritage.

With the generous funding from the Cultural Spaces in Indigenous Communities Program, along with the dedication of the proposal writing of Katina Cochrane, Fisher River Building Supplies, and TNT Construction, the Red Turtle Lodge began to rise from the earth.

And on this day of the grand opening, the air was filled with anticipation and excitement. The doors swung open to reveal a space that was more than just bricks and mortar; it was a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Fisher River Cree Nation.

The Red Turtle Lodge is not just a building; it was a promise of a brighter future, a place where tradition would be honored and shared with generations to come.
