RED TURTLE LODGE – MAINTENANCE/SECURITY PERSONNEL
(Full Time Position – 80 hrs biweekly)
The Red Turtle Lodge is presently seeking a Maintenance/Security Personnel to work under the direction of the Keepers of the Lodge. The Maintenance/Security Personnel is responsible to work with and assist the Traditional Lead Elder. The successful incumbent will provide a high level of expertise in the areas of Maintenance/Security duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete safety inspections of the lodge, buildings and grounds; including electrical, heating, ventilation, water & sewer systems.
- Complete minor adjustments, repairs and upkeep of the lodge, buildings & grounds; and contacting tradespersons for major repair and providing the information to management for approval.
- Complete minor housekeeping duties of the lodge after group use and arranges for casual personnel to do a more thorough cleaning.
- Complete other routine maintenance jobs, such as painting, minor drywall repair and repairs to steps, ramp and walkways.
- Establish and maintain an inventory of supplies, maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ensure health, security and safety measures are in place in the lodge and buildings.
- Routinely patrol the buildings and grounds areas and checks for potential safety concerns.
- Respond to alarms and emergent situations promptly, and calls emergency personnel and/or local police for help.
- Participate and help with traditional ceremonies conducted by the Traditional Lead Elder and Traditional Cree Helpers.
- Document safety and security incidents and writes required reports.
- Other duties assigned.
Qualifications/Employment Requirements
- Basic training and/or life skills, work experience in maintenance, security work; or willing to take necessary training to do the work.
- Knowledge and/or life skills in maintaining buildings and grounds keeping; and minor work with electrical, heating, ventilation, water and sewer systems.
- Ability to do minor housekeeping duties of the buildings and upkeep of grounds and roadways.
- Knowledge and respects the Cree traditional way of life, including the teachings, customs and ceremonies; being mindful of the historical and inter-generational trauma Indigenous peoples have experienced.
- Training in health and safety measures; able to establish a safety/security plan and measures for the buildings and grounds.
- Must provide Criminal Record Check, Adult and Child/vulnerable Abuse Registry Check.
- Must abide with the FRCN Illegal Drug by-law.
- Must have valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
