Today marks a significant milestone for Fisher River Cree Nation as the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) officially took over policing services from the RCMP Manitoba at 8:00 a.m. This important moment was commemorated with the Transfer of Policing Services Ceremony, symbolizing a new chapter in community safety and self-determination.
For the past 20 years, our leadership has worked tirelessly to establish a dedicated Police Detachment for our community, and now, with 12 officers serving around the clock, we are proud to have a team committed to protecting and supporting our people. Among them is our very own Constable Cole Murdock, a recent graduate of the program.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sergeant Gabe Simard and the Fisher Branch RCMP for their many years of dedicated service to our community.
This transition reflects our continued commitment to fostering a safer, stronger future for Fisher River Cree Nation.
