IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Jordan’s Principle Case Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Under the clinical supervision of the Jordan’s Principle Medical Navigator and a multidisciplinary team (Occupational Therapists/ Speech Language/ Physiotherapist), the Rehabilitation Assistant will provide therapeutic care for children and youth at Fisher River Cree Nation. This role supports the Jordan’s Principle Child First Initiative by implementing individualized care plans through culturally safe programming in home and clinical environments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITES:
- Deliver respectful, culturally sensitive therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with licensed therapists to integrate functional goals into daily routines.
- Assist in creating and refining care plans through detailed observational feedback and consistent data collection.
- Maintain communication with families and medical professionals, ensuring alignment with the Spirit Bear Service Delivery Model.
- Document client progress and oversee the maintenance and inventory of specialized therapeutic equipment.
- Maintain respectful, professional relationships with children, families, and caregivers,
- Prepare, document, and submit written reports and progress notes in a timely manner,
- Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and Jordan’s Principle policies at all times,
- Participate in team meetings, training, and program-related activities,
- Plan, organise and deliver group sessions and activities with clients,
- Administer medication to clients in the event of an emergency,
- May need to administer first aid in emergency situations,
- Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Certificate as a Rehabilitation Assistant, Therapy Assistant, or Health Care Aide; equivalent clinical experience will be considered.
- Experience supporting children with diverse developmental or physical needs is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team, supported by strong professional communication skills.
- Adherence to confidentiality protocols.
- Valid Manitoba driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Possess effective listening, communication and assessment skills;
- Computer Knowledge;
- Mino-pimatisiwin – living the good life, drug and alcohol-free;
- Able to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends and holidays to accommodate program scheduling.
- Must adhere to Fisher River Cree Nation Policies and Procedures, including the Illegal Drug By-law;
- Must submit, current Criminal Record Check, Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks.
