Respect Our Community Lands

The Chief & Council would like to remind all community members that off-road vehicles (ATVs, side-by-sides, dirt bikes, and similar vehicles) are not to be driven on private homeowners’ property or community-owned green spaces.

Recently, there have been several incidents of vehicles causing damage by tearing up lawns and community grounds, including the Treaty Grounds and the Memorial Park (Old Treaty Grounds). These areas are important community spaces that everyone shares and should be treated with care and respect.

It is especially concerning that there have also been reports of off-road vehicles driving through the community cemetery and over graves. This is completely unacceptable and shows a lack of respect for those who have been laid to rest and for their families.

Administration is working with the Manitoba First Nations Police Service regarding these incidents. Individuals who have been identified will be contacted, and anyone found causing damage or operating off-road vehicles in prohibited areas will be reported and may face further action.

We ask all parents and guardians to speak with their children about riding responsibly and respecting private property, community spaces, and sacred areas.

Thank you!
