 The Human Resource Manager will work closely with the Director of Health in implementing and overseeing the entity’s policies and procedures; HRM will assist in many other areas to ensure that all aspects of the Health Services operates within the Mission & Vision statement, goals and objectives established in the policies/procedures of the Fisher River Cree Nation, including training/development, compensation, pension/benefits and payroll, recruitment & retention, safe work environment.

DUTIES:   The Human Resource Manager is expected to perform the following activities/tasks in the following areas:

  • Carry-out, review and revise policies/procedures, in accordance with FRCN Administration policies/procedures and Canada Labour Code;
  • Ensure employee evaluations are completed;
  • Keep accurate record of employee personnel files;
  • Recruitment and retention, in coordination with Director of Health;
  • Ensure professional development practices with Supervisors and HD;
  • Ensure proper and timely completion of required documentation;
  • Maintains/monitors all approved staff leave requests and overall leave record for all employees;
  • Maintain Staff Daily Itineraries, review on a monthly basis;
  • Work closely with HD and Supervisors to maintain and develop programs, ensuring they fit within their programming;
  • Ensure all forms required for use “In Office” are updated and relevant for usage;
  • Work closely with IT Manager when bringing on new employees, ie: emails, computer passwords/log-ins and all other technical issues as they arise;
  • Develops, creates, acts as Lead for Occupational Health & Safety Committee in the workplace, appoints internal staff to sit on committee (O&M/Environment, Nursing, other), with direction of HD;
  • Maintain open and bias-free work environment;
  • Ensure incident forms are updated and keep an accurate record of events as it happened;
  • Ensure policies on harassment are up to date and Emergency Plan in place and updated;
  • Meets with committee on a quarterly basis;
  • Work closely with Finance Administrator and HD to ensure rates of pay and compensation are accurate and approved according to budgets/programs;
  • Manage Pension/Insurance applications for all employees

OTHER REALTED DUTIES

  • Maintain confidentiality;
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in the workplace;
  • Participate in monthly meetings/updates/reporting;
  • Attends workshops/trainings as required;
  • Demonstrate skill in priority setting, decision making and time management.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree/Diploma in Human Resources Management or Certification from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience related to Administration or similar will be accepted;
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to complete correspondence, documents and reports.
  • Skills and ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written).
  • Skills and ability to foster positive human and public relations.
  • Experience and skills in handling challenging and stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent physical, mental and emotional health.
  • Reliable and demonstrates personal motivation and initiative.
  • Demonstrates a respectful and positive attitude towards work, colleagues, management, board and the general public.
  • Must be willing to participate in continuing education and personal/professional development as it relates to the work area.
  • Proficient in computerized programs, knowledge of eHealth Solutions.
  • Must submit a current Adult/Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Check.
  • Must abide by FRCN Policies & Procedures including adhering to Illegal Drug Test.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
