As you may have already heard, youth ages 12 -17 are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine against COVID 19.
We are planning to start our Pfizer vaccine clinic (for youth 12-17) the week of May 31,2021.
Please contact Fisher River Health Services at 204.645.2689/431.256.0395 and ask to speak to a nurse to book an appointment for your child.
As of May 14, all young people in Manitoba aged 12 to 17 are eligible to be immunized against COVID-19 with the Pfizer vaccine.
The Pfizer vaccine was initially approved for people aged 16 and older in December 2020 and after further scientific study, it was approved in Canada for young people aged 12 to 15 as well. This is the only vaccine in Canada approved for use in this age group.
The vaccine is safe, effective, and will help prevent young people from getting the virus, passing it to others, or experiencing serious outcomes. In the third wave of COVID-19, the virus is more contagious and affecting younger people more seriously, so it is important to immunize as many people as possible as quickly as possible to slow the spread.
