It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce the recent graduation of two outstanding siblings from Fisher River Cree Nation.
Dr. Reyce Cochrane has completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and is the first dentist from our community. He will begin his dental practice in Winnipeg, and he plans to eventually provide dental services to Indigenous communities.
We are also thrilled to announce that Dr. Brooke Cochrane, who graduated from medical school in 2021, has completed her family medicine residency. Dr. Cochrane will begin her family medicine practice in Winnipeg, and in Indigenous communities throughout Manitoba.
We are honoured to have two members of the Fisher River Cree Nation achieve such significant milestones in their respective fields. Dr. Reyce and Dr. Brooke Cochrane have worked tirelessly to reach their goals, and we know they will continue to make us proud.
As Cree doctors, these siblings bring a unique perspective and skill set, which will undoubtedly benefit their patients.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Reyce Cochrane and Dr. Brooke Cochrane on their remarkable achievements. We wish them both the very best in their future careers and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on the health and well-being of our people.
The majority of Members have voted against adopting the Fisher River Election Code; therefore, Fisher River Cree Nation Election rules and regulations will continue to be set forth and managed by Indigenous Services Canada under the Indian Act. Official Statement of Results will be posted in the coming days.
Fisher River Cree Nation is a community in which our history, language, traditions, and culture are paramount to who we are as a people. We will protect and maintain the spirit and intent of the treaties and our inherent rights. Fisher River will be a self-sustaining progressive community with a strong and accountable government.
