Today, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service shared their plans to take over police management of Fisher River Cree Nation in the fall of 2025.

The upcoming transition to the Manitoba First Nations Police Service marks a new chapter in the history of Fisher River Cree Nation. The community detachment that will be built as part of this initiative will house a Sergeant, Corporal, 8 Constables, a Detachment Clerk, and Guards. This team will work tirelessly to protect and serve the members of our community, ensuring that they feel safe and supported at all times.

One of the most significant advantages of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service taking over police management is the round-the-clock patrol that will be conducted in Fisher River Cree Nation, along with faster response times when called upon. With officers on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, residents can rest assured knowing that help is never far away. This increased presence will not only deter criminal activity but also provide a sense of security and peace of mind to all who call Fisher River Cree Nation home.

In addition to law enforcement, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service is committed to working closely with all necessary departments and organizations that deal with mental health and domestic violence issues. By collaborating with these key stakeholders, they aim to provide holistic support to individuals and families in need, addressing not only the symptoms but also the root causes of these complex issues.

The current First Nation Safety Officers who will be stationed at the community detachment will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community.

In conclusion, we are immensely grateful to the Manitoba First Nations Police Service for their unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of Fisher River Cree Nation. With their dedicated team of officers, proactive approach to community policing, and collaborative efforts with key stakeholders, we are confident that the transition in 2025 will mark the beginning of a new era of peace, security, and prosperity for our community.
