In partnership with Ochekwi Sipi Cree Nation, Peguis First Nation, Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation and the RM Fisher catchment Leaderships and Health technicians met with Indigenous Services Canada and Ongomiizwin Health Services to begin the development of a governance board structure for the local Percy E. Moore Hospital (PEMH).
The purpose of the board development of the local Hospital will be to provide strategic leadership, uphold indigenous values and cultural practices, ensure accountability, and oversee improved delivery of safe equitable, and culturally grounded health care services to our memberships accessing PEMH.
In addition, with further discussions with Peguis First Nation, the partnerships have agreed to begin the long-awaited initiative of renaming of the local hospital due the historical history.
