FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RE: COVID-19 EMERGENCY ROAD CHECK POINTS
Fisher River Cree Nation (FRCN) along with Kinojeoshtegon First Nation (KFN) are in support of Peguis First Nation (PFN) of implementing security measures to reduce the risk and prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our communities.
With the support and agreement of all three communities; there will be Checkpoints at all roads entering Peguis First Nation and Fisher River Cree Nation.
These Checkpoints will limit the access of individuals entering all three communities. Each Checkpoint will have a crew ranging from 2-4 individuals with representatives from FRCN, PFN and KFN. The Crews will log names of individuals, license plate numbers of the vehicles, the company they represent and a contact number of those at the entering at the Checkpoints. Crews will also be screening to determine their travel history internationally and provincially; as well be asking to limit their visits to the three communities.
This is a Community-Driven initiative and will be handled by members of the three communities. The RCMP are not directly involved but do support and will be called if needed.
Again, members leaving the community are only to do so for ESSENTIAL TRAVEL which includes grocery shopping, Pharmacy/Medical reasons and to check on the vulnerable.
Member’s may be asked to provide Status Card or Drivers License to provide proof of residency.
