Update from the Fisher River Recycling Committee

This past year two loads of freezers and refrigerators were removed from the Fisher River landfill for proper disposal of the refrigerant they contain, and then to be recycled. To date 50 appliances have been disposed of in an environmentally responsible way. Freezers and refrigerators contain a refrigerant called HFC-134a, which is a greenhouse gas 1800 times stronger than CO2 (carbon dioxide). Yikes! Fisher River Receives Funding to Rescue 2.9 million pounds of Fish to distribute to Communities

Fisher River Cree Nation received $11 million from the innovative Surplus Food Rescue Program to rescue up to 2.9 million pounds of freshwater fish (walleye) caught from inland lakes of Canada. Travel information according to Manitoba Health, all International travellers are required to self isolate for 14 days in accordance with the quarantine act.
