COVID-19 Update from Fisher River Health Services #13 – April 19, 2020

RE: Update on COVID-19 #13
As of April 19, 2020:
As of 9:30 a.m., Public Health officials advise the total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba are 253.  
Data shows:
8 individuals are currently hospitalized, 5 of which are in Intensive Care (ICU).
105 active cases and 143 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19
Number of deaths to COVID-19 remain at 5
Cadham Provincial Laboratory performed 551 tests on Saturday (April 18th). A total of 19,744 tests have been preformed since early February.
Public Health officials have expanded testing criteria to include:

  • All symptomatic workers or volunteers at workplaces that have been identified as essential service; and
  • Any symptomatic person who lives with a health care worker, first responder or worker in a congregate setting such as a correctional facility, shelter, long-term care or residential facility.

Fisher River Cree Nation falls within the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority, data shows we remain at 17 positive cases. Health takes advice from Manitoba Health and we are all asked to continue to follow all the guidelines of staying home as much as possible, keep your distance of 6 feet, if you go shopping – advised not to take children, only 1 or 2 people should go at a time, wash your hands, wash your food items, disinfect/wash your door handles on your vehicles and home.
