Director of Operations
(Full Time Position)
Fisher River Cree Nation is presently seeking a Director of Operations to work under the direction of the FRCN Chief & Council. Provide organizational leadership to ensure effective administration of programs and services to the Community. Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance the quality of existing programs and services, and to address future Community needs. Provide direction and guidance to the Management Team and oversee operations to optimize financial, physical and human resources. Report to and provide administrative and consultative support to Chief and Council of Fisher River Cree Nation.
Key Accountabilities
Program and Service Delivery
- Oversees planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of programs, projects and services.
Financial Management
- Ensures sound financial management practices and prudent management of the organization’s resources within approved budget and applicable program and legislative guidelines
Human Resource Management
- Oversees management of the organization’s human resources according to authorized personnel policies and ensures compliance with employment and workplace legislation.
- Ensures effective recruitment, development, performance and retention of the organization’s employees.
Executive Support and Liaison
- Supports and advises Chief and Council regarding administration issues.
- Maintains collaborative relationships between and among entities in matters related to administration services and programs.
Policy, Compliance and Contract Administration
- Ensures all organizational procedures, policies, and standards are formulated, approved and enforced.
- Oversees complete and timely reporting required by ISC and other Government bodies.
- Oversees negotiations and approval of all contractual obligations for the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong understanding of First Nations governance, financial management, funding agreements (e.g., ISC/Health Canada), and community development.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both orally and written;
- Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment;
- Knowledge of general office procedures, practices and office equipment operations;
- Demonstrated computer knowledge capabilities;
- Must be able to work flexible hours and travel upon request;
- Excellent internal/external customer service skills.
- Must provide Criminal Record, Child Abuse & Adult Abuse Registry Checks with Resume.
